Head Teacher Welcome

Welcome to Braidburn School!

Braidburn is an amazing school in the Southwest of Edinburgh. We support children and young people with complex additional support needs, aged 3-18 years.

We have an incredible staff team who support our pupils each day to access their learning experiences and be as independent as they can be. At Braidburn we have a strong emphasis on working together as a community, to help our children and young people learn, have fun and feel safe.

We are supported of course by our wider learning community which includes not only staff, our parents, carers and families, but our nursing team and therapists too. We also work closely with those strong partnerships that we have made over recent years and consider ourselves to be very lucky to work within this wonderful learning community.

Currently at Braidburn, we have a nursery, 7 primary classes and 8 secondary classes. All of our children are taught within a ‘base class’ model with visiting specialist teachers for practical subjects such as pe, swimming, art, food technology and music.

We follow a Curriculum for Excellence and provide a wide range of learning experiences for our learners to help enable them to reach their full potential. Additional learning experiences include visiting music specialists, outdoor learning, life skills in the community and working with our Active Schools Team.

Our aim is to provide a positive and welcoming environment where our pupils feel safe and ready to learn, and our families feel welcome to come into school to join us. We work very much as a team and welcome your support with all aspects of school.

I hope that you find the information on our website useful, and you are able to learn more about our amazing school.
