Welcome to Braidburn School

Situated in the south-west of Edinburgh, Braidburn School provides a supportive learning environment for learners with additional support needs aged 2½ to 18 years old.

Braidburn benefits from on-site multi-disciplinary therapy and medical teams in addition to our education staff. This helps our learners achieve their full potential.

Our Vision, Values and Aims

  • At Braidburn School our vision is: Everyone working together to help us learn, feel safe, make choices, show our feelings and be the best we can be.
  • This vision is embodied in our school’s aims to promote independence and communication within our positive and nurturing environment so our young people leave school with confidence and the ability to enjoy life.
  • We value teamwork, Inclusive Communication, our multi-tasking staff and our diverse and holistic approach towards meeting the needs of all our learners so they can be the best they can be.

Update 1st April 2020

Dear Parents and Carers

I hope this finds you well, as we move into the middle of our second week of school closure.

Our staff team are working remotely; but are staying connected with one another in a planned and structured way – and we are working together as a team to support some aspects of the curriculum, where we can; and to keep in touch with all our Braidburn families.

Communication with our families is so important during this period of school closure; and we will continue to keep in touch with you all in a number of ways – through regular website updates, emails, phone calls and sharing of information on Twitter.

Please do continue to check our website for Base Class / Specialist Teacher messages and learning updates.  Our teaching team are busy preparing weekly updates which are now being shared via our school website. We are also sharing updates from our NHS colleagues; and we are working to post regular updates on our Twitter account.

Our teaching team will be in touch with all families by phone this week to say ‘hello’ and have a catch up.  This will become a weekly communication channel following the Easter holiday period.

Our IEP targets have now been completed; and we will be sharing these documents with families via email after the Easter break.

We would welcome families connecting with us through sharing home learning experiences.  If you have any photos or examples of home learning in your household that you would like to share with us, please do get in touch.  It would be lovely to share ideas and examples of successful home learning activities across our school community; and we can post these on our website, with your permission.

With warm wishes
