Our award-winning Rainbow Café gives pupils the chance to work independently and interact with the wider community. Each week the senior class welcomes friends from the school and invited visitors from the community to the café. Here you can enjoy a drink and a snack for a very reasonable price and have a chat.

Learners undertake a variety of jobs: from meeting and greeting visitors to the school to making the tea and coffee and helping tidy up. It’s all hands on deck to make sure that the café runs smoothly, so everyone understands the importance of working together and doing their job well.

The café is such a success that in 2011 it won the Inclusive City award at the Edinburgh Council Staff Excellence Awards.
