Primary Sports Day

Despite the grey clouds the rain held off again and it was a great day as the primary took to the all-weather pitch for their sports day. The pupils enjoyed the races and games on the day and relished competing against one another and working together in their teams.

Sports Day

Kurling stones ricochetted in the gym hall, boccia balls rolled on the all-weather pitch and cheers shouted as the races ran today at our secondary sports day.

All the secondary pupils lined up on the all-weather pitch this morning ready to begin the day with relay races – including some with balloon bursting, dressing up and splashing about with water! After the races – and a quick break to catch our breath – the teams split up and competed against one another in kurling, boccia and cricket.

To top the day off the classes got together in the dining hall for a disco.

Everyone had a great time and we’re sure that we’ll all sleep well tonight after all today’s excitement and energy. Below is just a few of the snaps from the day, the rest can be found here.

Almond and Spey sports at Edinburgh University

Trainee teachers in the sports department of Edinburgh University recently welcomed Braidburn pupils from the Almond and Spey classes to some fun sport and activity session.

At the end of October we visited the sports facilities at the university’s Moray House campus where we explored movement and dance. The session concluded with a performance by the pupils of a dance they had created themselves, choosing both the moves and the music.

We began our Christmas celebrations early with our visit to the Pleasance Sports Centre in the last week of November. The teachers in training hosted pupils from special schools across Edinburgh for a variety of festive games and everyone involved had a chance to socialise and have a great time.

A huge thank you to Edinburgh University for offering these fantastic opportunities for our pupils and a special thanks to Dave Rhoney and John de Courcy for facilitating and delivering the sessions.

Below you can see pictures from both sessions in which the pupils interact with others and enjoy keeping fit and active.
